I’m constantly chasing the perfect transition inside bowls, but sometimes with light colored wood it’s hard to see exactly where I need to remove the material and I end up taking away too much. So here’s what I like to do to help find the exact spot I need to take care of.
I start by identifying the area with my fingers.
Then I mark the front and back of the lump with a pencil
Next I spin the bowl by hand and mark circles and make an outline on the front and back of the lump.
These lines give3 me a nice visual starting and stopping point for my cut so I dont accidentally overshoot the lump or remove too much material before it.
